Custom ecommerce vs WooCommerce

If the store already sells, sometimes you stretch WooCommerce. If the product does not fit a standard cart, you build something else.

WooCommerce is not "old"

If you already have a catalog, payment methods, and a team that loads products there, throwing it away for fashion is expensive. At Cortinería Confort, years of custom plugins (installments, QR, quoting) lived on WooCommerce because the store was already alive.

When WooCommerce is enough

  • The product has a price or a rule that can live in a plugin.
  • Local checkout (installments, QR, Mercado Pago) is the bottleneck, not the business model.
  • The team already runs the WordPress admin.

When it stops being enough

  • Price is born from a measurement, a recipe, or a production flow.
  • The store and the operation have to share stock, statuses, and customers.
  • Every campaign needs a developer so checkout does not break.

Then a custom store (or a storefront on top of the operations system) stops being a whim. The useful question is not "which stack is more modern?". It is "where does the truth of the order live?".
