Lightweight business tools
Zero-infrastructure tools built on Google Workspace: an online ordering form for a grocery store and a full crop-management web app — no servers, no hosting bills.
This project has no public demo. The case focuses on the problem, the decisions, and the outcome.
/01
The problem
Not every problem deserves a SaaS subscription: small businesses often need one focused tool that just works, costs nothing to run and lives where their data already is.
/02
What we did
Design and development of both tools end to end on Google Apps Script, using Sheets as the database.
/03
Key decisions
- For the store: a public order form that reads the catalog from a spreadsheet, records orders with full detail and confirms by email — the owner manages everything from Sheets.
- For the crop app: a full web UI with calendar, task tracking, journal and metrics, plus Google Calendar sync and automated daily email reminders.
- Chose the simplest stack that solves the problem — proof that engineering judgment matters more than framework fashion.
/04
Outcome
Two tools in real use with zero infrastructure cost, delivered fast and maintainable by anyone who can edit a spreadsheet.
